Five Simple Words that Describe The Francofile

Whether you’re a long-time follower or a first-time reader, Jalen and I want to share in this article what The Francofile is all about. We aspire to embed our core principles into everything we create, and we believe that with just a few basic descriptors, we can illustrate exactly who we are. Keep reading for five adjectives that perfectly characterize The Francofile.

1. Authentic

The Francofile is authentic in that we are as honest and transparent with our audience as possible. We know that people come to our blog and YouTube channel seeking sincere testimony about topics like learning to speak a second language to fluency, moving abroad to teach English, and pursuing a degree in a foreign country. We pride ourselves on sharing more than just a highlight reel and offering our followers the candid insight they crave.

2. Consistent

Both on our blog and our YouTube channel, The Francofile values consistency. Nothing is more frustrating than finding a great blog that promises regular updates only to find out that the author hasn’t published new content in months. For two years and counting, we’ve shared nearly one blog post per week and two YouTube videos per month. We also regularly post Instagram stories, retweet relevant content on Twitter, craft fun TikToks, and more. Following us means that you’ll enjoy a steady stream of high-quality content.

3. Educational

The Francofile was founded to be an information hub. For years, Jalen and I scoured the internet for educational content relating to language learning, the Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF), studying in French graduate school, and living in France as Americans. Though blogs and YouTube channels about these topics abound, many of them are vague, misleading, imprecise, and even incorrect. Our content is purposefully designed to educate our followers, eradicate confusion, and improve the information available to all on the internet.

4. Free

Believe it or not, all of the content we’ve ever produced as The Francofile is accessible to everyone completely free of charge. From the get-go, we have endeavored to help others, grow a community, and make connections online. Keeping our best, highest-quality information behind a paywall is contrary to our mission to curate a space where all are welcome to learn and communicate.

5. Versatile

We are everywhere! From light-hearted TikToks, to instructional blog articles, to entertaining videos, it’s impossible to confine The Francofile to just one genre. Instead, we love making versatile content for a diverse audience that includes people of all ages from countries around the world. We strive to make The Francofile a three-dimensional network that reflects who we are as we are people with a multitude of interests and complex lives.

Our audience’s experience is important to us, and we hope that you agree with our description of The Francofile. How would you describe The Francofile? Let us know in a comment!

    Hello Maria,
This blog has been so helpful! I’m curious about your law studies. Do you plan to practice law in the U. S. and sit for the Bar with the French law degree
(sans J. D.)? I’ve been looking into my state’s bar association standards for intenational equivalents but it just seems to be case-by-case. It would certainly be a better deal to study law abroad so I’m curious if you have a perspective on that. Thank you.

Hi, Ann! Thanks for your comment. I do not plan, at this time, to practice law in the U.S. Sorry I can’t be of more help!
